Read on below to find out more and radiography & ultrasonagraphy RADIOGRAPHY This can be a very important tool when investigating an illness with your companion. X-rays have to been done on a lead-lined table and anyone in the room at the time of exposure must where lead gowns. The x-ray plates (similar to a standard film in an old camera) are then put through a processing machine to produce a film that both the veterinary surgeon and yourself can see.
ULTRASONGRAPHY The ultrasound machine provides the centre with a service that means we can provide you with detailed information about your pet if needed. Ultrasound is used to gain information about the structure and function of certain organs which cannot be gained from x-rays alone. Sound waves, which cannot be detected by the human ear, are produced by a special crystal within a probe. The probe is held onto the animals skin surface and the sound waves pass into the body. They are reflected by the body's internal tissues, recorded by the probe and a picture can then be produced on the screen.
